What Is The Difference Between Internship and Training

When you are just passed out from graduation, its time you look for a job that can help in starting up your career. Since it is your first job, you might be a part of the internship and offer training. Depending on what role you are taking up, training will be an integral part of the hiring process. Companies when hiring new people they offer an internship to understand the working nature and figure out whether the employee is worth to carry ahead.

 

Although training and internship are similar in terms of context and offer a chance to hone your skills, there is some differences between the two.

 

Let us now check some of the critical difference between internship and training-

 

An internship is similar to a job before hiring on a permanent role. Internship is usually offered to CA students who need to get the job done for specific months or years. This internship allows the potential employee to adapt to the working environment. It also helps in gaining relevant knowledge and skills.

 

What is Training?

Training is a program conducted by the company to improve the skill, knowledge, and the ability of the employees. The objective of the training is to do conduct changes in the behavior of the employees. There are different types of training are-

  • Orientation Training
  • Apprenticeship Training
  • Job Training
  • Vestibule Training

 

What is an Internship?

It is the kind of training offered to college fresher, especially who is learning CA. The primary purpose of the internship is to enable students applying theoretical knowledge about working life and ethics. No rules are applied to the intern.

 

Key Difference

Training, on the other hand, is more gaining skills through the program for weeks or months. Training is conducted for both fresher and experienced employees to stay updated. It is quite similar to the education program giving more emphasis on practical learning.

 

Some Expectations-

When you are in an internship, you are supposed to work on given assignments to deliver on time. You will need to provide complete details or report about the work you did during the internship. You will work under the reporting manager.

During training, you are expected to understand the job and work position. In many cases, you will be asked to create a document and report.

 

Employment Contract-

The potential employee will undergo the training after hiring or while working for the company. Once the training is over, the candidate will continue working for the company as a permanent employee.

In the internship, there is no contract between an intern and the company. It is up to the employer whether to extend the offer for full-time or give the experience letter. Here the intern is free to reject or accept the offer.

 

Duration-

The duration of the training depends on the subject and last from 15-30 days. In some companies, the training is conducted for fresher for more than 2 months.

The internship can be lengthy, which can go for more than three months. Sometimes, the internship also lasts for 12 months.

 

Paid and Unpaid-

During the training, the employee paid as per the designated package or specific amount. Once the training completed, there will be a hike in the payment. The internship can be either paid or unpaid depending on the position.

 

Bottom Line-

Although there is a difference between the two, it is essential to know how it can affect the career. The internship is a gateway to get permanent job, training, on the other hand, will help you to push your career ladder ahead.
